Village of Divernon was founded in 1887. We are located in Sangamon County at mile post 80 on Interstate 55.
United Community Bank (UCB) – located 200 Reichert Road Divernon, Illinois 62530.
Rettberg’s Inc. on the Divernon square, evolved from a small radio and electronics store in the 1940s and 1950s to today’s business, which provides plumbing, electrical work, heating and air conditioning, whole-house stand-by generators, and the sale and maintenance of appliances.
Emerson Press – located at 103 W Dodds – Northeast side of Divernon square.
Patsy’s on the Square – located on the Southeast side of Divernon square at 100 West Kenney Street. Small Family Restaurant specializing in American home cooked meals.
Corner Bar – located 200 1st street – Northeast side of Divernon square.
Maddy’s Tavern-Divernon – located 228 S 1st street – East side of Divernon square. Maddy’s Tavern name is based on the Madison Coal Company starting back in 1899. Maddy’s Tavern hosts one of the few bottom fill glass systems in the area.
Divernon Community Food Bank – The Divernon United Methodist Church Food Pantry is open to those in the community who need a little help. The location is at the church – 503 South Second Street in Divernon; enter through the east door. The pantry is open Mondays from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
For those who would like to make a donation, drop off points are at Illini Bank , United Community Bank, Divernon Post Office and Divernon Library. Those who would like to make a cash donation then please mail to Divernon United Methodist Bank, 503 South 2nd Street, Divernon, IL 62530.
Divernon Youth Group Clothing Closet – The Divernon Presbyterian Church Youth Group Clothing Closet is available to all. Starting in January, the Closet will be open the First and Third Monday of each month. The Closet is located at the southwest side of the village square. Hours of operation will be from 4:00 to 6:00PM. All clothing is free! There is a great selection of clothing sizes infant to Adult XXL. Shoes, belts and other accessories are also available. Please come by and check it out. You will be surprised by what great items we have?

Emergencies – In times of emergencies, loss of electrical power can pose a serious health risk for Divernon Township residents especially those with health problems. With that in mind, the Divernon Township Library has installed an electrical generator so that the library may be used as a place of shelter. In the event of an emergency a sign will be placed on the front door of the library indicating that the Shelter is Open.
